Christmas Projects 2014

Found this in my draft file so I decided to pop it up.  It was suppose to go up before Christmas but better late then never.

What a crazy time of year with getting ready for Christmas, school concerts, and high school orientations yet I still manage to squeeze  in extras.  So many unfinished projects so little time but they did get done for Christmas.  Thank God for His strength to help me finished.  I had a lot of fun making things this year.  Some projects are:-

Bags for teenage Nieces.  I got the pattern out of a magazine from the library.

Drink Bottle holders for my three.  At 7,9, 12  they are old enough to carry their own stuff. I first saw this on Pink Chalk Studio  (Click here for link) many years ago and had forgotten about it until searching about Pinterest.

Another thing idea from Pinterest -  Drink Bottle Holder

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and I pray that the true meaning of Christmas is celebrated and everyone remains safe.

God Bless.

Secret Santa Time

This is my secret santa gift for craft.  The conditions were it had to be hand made and under $5 and considering the amount of talent we have it will be awesome to se what people come up with.

This is what I made.  Ferrero Flowers.

Sorry the picture is not that great but take my word for it they look awesome. I used my circuit and accents essential to cut out the flowers, some gems, fake flowers, and green florist tape from my stash.  It was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately idea has not come from me but a friend of mine over at
Chloe and he clip on Koalas.

The link for Chloe's tutorial on the flowers is here and make sure you check out her site.  Chloe is one amazing and talented lady.

Happy crafting and God Bless

Emmaline's Necessary Clutch Wallet

My goodness.  How the year has flown by and I thank God for all His strength and giving me the courage to go into a craft group.  I have meet many marvellous ladies.  Thank you Lord for bring them in to my life.

There is so much talent and variety with these bunch of ladies.  A secret santa was sent up and one of the ladies made a purse for another lady. It was awesome. She sent me the link I got the pattern ( http://www.emmalinebags.com/the-necessary-clutch-wallet/4575098877 ) and made my first purse.

So these are my fabric and pattern ready to go.  At the beginning I was a little unsure of fabric choices.  But the end product looks awesome.

The outside look.

The inside look.

Once I did the pattern once I realise a few little bits that I have missed and where I am going to need extra interfacing.  I am really happy with the purse and now my two girls what me to make some.

So should anyone want the pattern for this, then head over to Emmaline Bags by following this link

It is an awesome site with heaps of advise on how to do the bags, purses and you can get the hardware for the purses there are well.

So happy crafting everyone and may God bless you in 2015

Its that time of year again.

Another interesting year is nearly over and Christmas is nearly here.  The time of year when God's only Son was born.  Praise God.   Have you ever imagine what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph? To kiss a newborn whom was God?   Wow.  My mind boggles over that.  It would be scary and awesome at the same time.  I could only imagine.

Um food for thought.

I always look for something different for the kids to give to their friends and thanks to Pinterest this was found.

So I pulled out my cricut and Create a critter and cricutted away.

The kids put their friends names on the card.

The finished  product consists of 8 maltesers and one Jaffa.

I have decided to enter these into some Christmas fun on other blogs.

Nuts about you.

Over on Scrappy Moms Stamps there was a Terrific Tuesday Challenge all about nuts. Click here to see the awesome projects that have been done.  I know the time frame is up but the linky is still there so I thought I would give it a go.

I thought I would share this off the page I did for my husband.

I used the Create a critter Cartridge.  I love that I managed to put the acorns of the bottom of the inside frame.

Happy Scrappy and God Bless

Favourite pair of Jeans up-recycle

Swimming was coming up for my eldest and she wanted a new bag.  Something different then what everyone else had.  Then she bought me a pair of jeans and asked if she could make a bag out of it.  So we did. She started the bag but after breaking two needles and having to constantly keep re-threading the needle due to snapage, it was handed over to me.

Like most of us when Tamika wanted it done straight and was getting very annoyed that it wasn't working.  I am sure we have all felt like that with many of our projects. Especially when you are working on it late and you need that one thing to finish the project.  I find that so annoying...  ;)

Not bad for a first attempt.  Some things I would do different would be to add a pocket on the inside and put a little secret pocket where the fly is on the jeans.

Total cost for this bag: Nil.  I had everything in my stash.  Awesome.  Nothing like a freebie.

Bags, bags, and bags

Well Christmas is nearly here and I have sew many projects to do and finished.  I figure at least they are all started. I have one more assessment due for my studies this Friday then my sewing machine will be getting a major workout.  lol

I realised having a look at my pictures I have made several different types of bags.   They were fun to make but I have to practise some more to master the art of bag making.

My Hobo Bag for my niece for Christmas.  She is going to Bali at Christmas so hopefully it will be usefull. I got this pattern of Pinterest. I love pinterest.

The pattern I used was by Amandita Designs. The link for this bag is

but there are heaps of patterns for these types of bags online.  So just have a google.

Next up is, what I call my 50cent tote bag.

this pattern came from a lady at craft.  I don't know where she got it from.  A few of us were making the bags.  Same pattern but all very different. I recently find another craft page that does a "Anything Goes Monday" at Stitch by Stitch.

The reason I call it my 50c tote bag is because all the material I used was scraps from making quilts for my girls or donated.   The only thing I had to buy was the lining and that was 50c.  I love it, so bright and colourful.  Great for all sort of craft things.

I recommend pinterest for a starting point.  It has so many ideas.

Check out my page. lots of inspiration there.

Craft is only as expensive as you make.

Up- recycling

I have developed a real interest in sewing and quilting but it can get quite expensive especially when you are just starting out.  Since money in this household is very scarce and I have taken on board some easier ways to help me get what I need.  I really need to thank my mum for all her wisdom is this area after all quilting and patchwork used to be made out of old dresses and shirts.  THANK YOU MUM.  YOU ARE TRULY MY INSPIRATION

I love hitting the op - shops.  There are always bargains to be found here.  For the backing of quilts I use a flat sheet or old doona usually they are under $5 but to get backing material from shops can cost heaps more then that.  For the bigger quilts it saves you having the join in the middle and saves heaps of money. You  can get all sorts of different background if you are willing to shop around.  Another thing mum said was to use winter blankets and don't worry about the wadding or the backing.  I did this on the back of  Tamika's quilt and it saved a lot of time.

I love textile traders at the moment.  They have quilting material out sometimes for only $2 - $4 a metre.  You have to get a metre but for $2 if you really like it you can get it and figure out what you are doing to do with it later.  I have picked up some great material and I am going to make a bag and some seat covers for the kitchen stools. Every textile traders is different.  I always love a bargain.

Pinterest is also a favourite of mine.  I love the inspiration and showing me how to do different and wonderful things and the best thing is that when you 'pin it'   it doesn't get lost.  Love it. With my millions of followers are the moment  (aka  none  :(  so if anyone wants to follow me that would be awesome then I wont be lonely  lol) I will put the link to my pinterest here.

God Bless and happy Crafting

School Carnival

The kiddies had their school carnival.  Some of the activites were ones I have never heard of before but they had a great time.

The carnival set up. Looks awesome.

Three tired children.  They flaked out on the couch when we got home.  Which brings us to a lot of R&R over the school holidays.  Yay.  :0

With school holidays here, I need ways to come up with free or cheap activities for my kiddies.  I have set myself a challenge to do this with little or no money since I don't have any.  lol

I am thinking I will do like a mystery  jar with all different things to do,  kids can help with this and hopefully will get there imagination up and running.

Some ideas are:

1) making play dough  - it appears you are never too old for playdough.
2) cooking and baking a must
3) My girls what to learn to use my sewing machine so we can give that a go
4) Op shop treasure hunt.  We have 5 here in busselton so that should be fun.  umm that sounds good,  bikes and budget.  (I might have to look into that one)
5) Bunnings activities are always good,
6) Library
7) everyone trying something new
8) Devotionals
9)
10)

It is going to be awesome.

Tamika is now 12

Wow.  My eldest daughter just had her 12 birthday. I made her a quilt like it did the other two.  It is an awesome quilt and so easy.  I cant believe my baby is 12.

It was lots of fun making and really quite easy.  I found a simple way to do over at My Quilt Infatuation.  Click here to check out the link.  It is awesome.  Thanks My Quilt Infatuation for the tutorial and and inspiration.

There is a funny story behind this page.  I had it all laid out ready to go and I called my three children to have a look they loved it.  When I said I am putting NOVEMBER on the top using a pumpkin for the 'O'

Silence

'mum Halloween is in October'  umm good things I hadn't glued anything down.
