Up- recycling

I have developed a real interest in sewing and quilting but it can get quite expensive especially when you are just starting out.  Since money in this household is very scarce and I have taken on board some easier ways to help me get what I need.  I really need to thank my mum for all her wisdom is this area after all quilting and patchwork used to be made out of old dresses and shirts.  THANK YOU MUM.  YOU ARE TRULY MY INSPIRATION

I love hitting the op - shops.  There are always bargains to be found here.  For the backing of quilts I use a flat sheet or old doona usually they are under $5 but to get backing material from shops can cost heaps more then that.  For the bigger quilts it saves you having the join in the middle and saves heaps of money. You  can get all sorts of different background if you are willing to shop around.  Another thing mum said was to use winter blankets and don't worry about the wadding or the backing.  I did this on the back of  Tamika's quilt and it saved a lot of time.

I love textile traders at the moment.  They have quilting material out sometimes for only $2 - $4 a metre.  You have to get a metre but for $2 if you really like it you can get it and figure out what you are doing to do with it later.  I have picked up some great material and I am going to make a bag and some seat covers for the kitchen stools. Every textile traders is different.  I always love a bargain.

Pinterest is also a favourite of mine.  I love the inspiration and showing me how to do different and wonderful things and the best thing is that when you 'pin it'   it doesn't get lost.  Love it. With my millions of followers are the moment  (aka  none  :(  so if anyone wants to follow me that would be awesome then I wont be lonely  lol) I will put the link to my pinterest here.

God Bless and happy Crafting
Tabatha
